Milling Some Butternut

I’ve been milling some butternut over the last few months. I’ve been cutting it between logs for customers, so it’s gotten spread out. I’ve heard butternut referred to as white walnut and when cutting it you can see why, similar figure just lighter. These logs have been sitting on a stone pile for a while, so I figured I better spray them off before cutting them. I’ve been cutting slabs out of the “gnarlier” logs and 4/4 (1” thick) lumber out of the straighter lengths. Some of the logs need a bit of trimming to get them to cooperate when clamping them onto the mill bed.
